on this, the first day of a new year of learning and discovery…
of that arched expanse of indigo,
spanning rim to rim,
and you hold on tight,
fearless and happy,
a line of string gripped tightly
in clenched fists of yours
just the way you’ve hung unto
leash of that wildly panting canine of ours
who’s run these fields more summer than you’ve known,
but today, on September’s cusp,
its a flash of dreams,
brilliant dreams,
climbing and breathless,
that takes you, laughing,
out for a run.
Father, today, unwind Your dreams for Your children, You who makes dreams and winds and all the bouyant colors of our lives…
