Making or Meeting? Finding Christmas not in a Product but a Person

“The spirit of Christmas needs to be superseded by the Spirit of Christ.

The spirit of Christmas is annual; the Spirit of Christ is eternal.

The spirit of Christmas is sentimental; the Spirit of Christ is supernatural.

The spirit of Christmas is a human product;

the Spirit of Christ is a Divine Person.

That makes all the difference in the world.”

- Stuart Briscoe in Meet Him at the Manger

Father, this Advent, remind me: I am not making a PRODUCT, I am meeting a PERSON.

Where am I taking time to meet you, Lord? Right now, I’m going to close my eyes, and linger here. Meet you now.

Taking time to meet You, setting aside the making of products, that will make all the difference in the world, in this Christmas…in my heart.
