Today, Global Food Crisis Day,
Ours wake up and there's no crisis here and I feed them,
Bowls steaming with steel cut oats, butter soaking into whole wheat toast,
and I set the table and no one forages and no one hunts
and while we've filled our spoons and filled our tummies,
children like these, eyes glistening with hope in morning light too,
have faded grey and stony,
stomachs swollen taut in emptiness.
$13 a month, less than the cost of a book, will feed a child, fill a stomach, for a whole month. Thirty whole, glorious mornings of waking up full. Would you respond to the very real Crisis and help release a child from hunger... starvation...death?
We feel thankful. So now we do thanks... and give from our gifts.
Take a moment and click (above or on this link)... two minutes to really understand. We owe them the honor of listening to their stories, yes?
