In this Cynical Age, Someone Must Believe…

I have committed myself to joy….

We must not be afraid to announce it to refugees, slum dwellers, saddened prisoners, angry prophets. Now and then we must even announce it to ourselves.

In this prison of now, in this cynical and sophisticated age, someone must believe in joy.”

- Richard Rohr

The Jesus believers… aren’t they the Joy Believers?

“These things I have spoken to you
so that My joy may be in you,
and that your joy may be made full.”

~Jn. 15:11

When I believe, the more I see… who can stop announcing all His Joy?

endless gifts… #1098-1110

clatter of enamel plates

crunch around the table of sweet corn, kernels of sunshine, butter running down their chins

wringing out a mop

the way she sings when she sweeps

checkers played on the kitchen floor

paintbrushes in hands

ink

stacks of cucumber rounds

smoldering sunsets

breeze

striped zinnias in yellow buckets

the way that one curl winds behind her ear

tendrils of sweet peas, climbing up summer

In a fractured world, why be afraid to announce Joy?The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Believe. Announce Joy!
