‘Stars over snow,
And in the west a planet
Swinging below a star —
Look for a lovely thing and you will find it,
It is not far —
It never will be far.”

And so I find that yes, He gives the gifts close, never far,
so I with the poor soul-sight can see,
can see the lovely that falls on a winter night,
inside and out,
lace upon light.
Not far, it never will be far…

and we lie with Winter Poems as the snow petals fall,
as the gifts draw close,
as the lovely things pile,
high and deep.

To make your own pile of snowflakes, lovely things, this weekend:
Our cut-out pattern of our favorite Snowflake for the Christmas Tree & another
(every year the children turn on the Christmas carols and spend an afternoon cutting these lacy flakes out for the windows and trees)
And a tutorial to make your own snowflakes, large and lovely…
(we are in the midst of a flurry of these large snowflakes — making more than twenty for Sunday’s Christmas play at the chapel — perhaps we’ll share next week?)
Photos: snowmaking from past years — post is an edit from the archives
