when you pick lilacs in May

They climb high, shimmy along the ancient limbs and reach.

Then bring them in through the porch by the armfuls, the heavy aroma of late May.

That soil would grow up this fragrance, an organic perfume, an incense of praise.

I set out vases. They run water. We line the table.

The room is quiet.

Beauty unfolds its robes in silence.

He is too fine for words.

The house fills with His scent.
